Private Mobile Radio (PMR)
PMR can be confined to an individual site, multiple sites or even nationwide. Radio units can be bodyworn or vehicle mounted. PMR uses high power, and therefore has a good range and reception. PMR is particularly suited to applications where messages are speech based and need to get to everyone concerned quickly.

PMR systems require minimal infrastructure - the most basic system comprises just two handsets but even simple configurations can grow to include a base station and interconnection to the telephone system. PMR is often employed in dispersed, sometimes rugged areas of operation.
